Death brings me sorrow -

By : Nici Misri

Death brings me sorrow —
A  immortal sorrow filled with grief

Thoughts run through —

Of Never to be seen again —

Never to be heard of by a whisper —

Never to be looked upon by a soul

Is this what god wants for us?

I often loose myself —

Upon the thoughts and wonders of death—

For is there any life without an end?

What happens when we are to be vanished?

What happens to us all?

For God keeps his secrets and tells no soul—

’Tis him we need to blame and thank —

For our existence and our quires —

And nobody else —

I wrote this peom after researching and looking through Emily Dickinsons work, style and techniques as a poet. I tried to emulate her writing style by using frequently used words so as " Upon , Imortality, For and soul". I also choose this topic because I know after reading a lot of her poems she writes about immortality , death . god and sorrow, so I put all these thoughts and feelings into one poem and tried to emulate her style of writing. I also stuck to only writing short lines with around 3 - 7 word limit because Emily Dickinson does not use a lot of words in one line. Her poems are also usually short  so I wrote a short poem. I found out that Emily Dickinson wasn't very religious unlike her parents and so in many poems she questions God and this is why I thought that this would be a good angle to add.  I also made usage of the dash denoting a pause because most of her poems have a pause at the end of each line.
